Above is my sketch, almost finished, with a rose I wanted to experiment with in the center. Progress shots below.
I really had no idea how this would turn out. I honestly just startd with a squiggle in the center. But over the years, I've practiced with symmetry & building out composition as I go. This is now blown up as a poster on my wall!
